Kids...

So I have come to realize how important it is to raise kids. One thing is for sure though, I am really excited to have kids of my own, and to be able to raise and teach them. I'm excited to start my own family. It's amazing how the Lord allows people like us to be able to take the life of another in our hands and raise that child. There are so many influences here in the world, which puts such an importance on being a good parent. Whatever you teach your children from the beginning, they will go on to believe their whole lives. The family is a whole unit with smaller subsets inside it. The way that the family will function best is when all of those subsets cooperate together.

One of the things we learned this week in class was about how there are so many different unseen rules and boundaries in a family. Although these rules and boundaries go unspoken, they often tend to be some of the most important ones to the family. It is very interesting how they are never spoken of, but all who are in the family know exactly what they are, and most of the time will know there will be consequences if they break those rules or boundaries.

Raising a Family

This week I sure learned some interesting things about the family. The first thing I learned is that it sure isn't easy to raise a family! Or should I say it isn't easy to raise a family the right way. One thing that really sparked my interest was about the number of children we will have. I thought it to be very interesting about how the children that we don't have that we should have will be sent to homes where they will less be likely to learn correct principles. We will be held accountable for the children that we do not bring into the world. That was a very interesting thing for me, which makes me want to have as many kids as the Lord will let me have. Another very interesting and important thing that I liked was the difference that family dinner makes in the behavior of children.

My Fiance and I

Last week while my girlfriend (now fiance) and I drove across country to come out to school, we made a stop at the historic site of Adam-Ondi-Ahman. Little did she know that I had a ring in my pocket there. I asked her to marry me while overlooking one of the valleys, and she said yes! So now I am taking a Family Relations class from Brother Williams here at school. I'm really interested to learn more about the family and how I can be the very best husband/father I can be. The first day of class I was very impressed and it sparked much of my interest to learn more things about the family. Well, I guess we will see how it goes!

Here is a picture of us right after I proposed to her at Adam-Ondi-Ahman.
